GPU question

What is the fastest current NVIDIA GPU that takes only 1 6 pin connector? A hypothetical seeing as my current PSU doesn't have a dedicated 6 pin and I would not try a card that wants 2 6 pin connectors, and also have a conservatie resolution at 1152x864.

GTX 250 if I remember correctly...as the GTX 260 requires 2 PCI-E connectors.

Counting connectors is not the way to do it. More than likely you will be disappointed. Or worse burn something up including your new video card and motherboard both.
The point is how much 12v current can your psu supply. And the age of the psu.
PSU's have a roll off of amperage with age. At 450 watts you would be better off looking at a new psu first. Then a video card second.
There is a sticker on the side of your psu with it's current ratings.

1. It was only a hypothetical

2. I have a 450 watt PSU and a 450 watt Visiontek juicebox as my sig rig says. My amperage will be just fine.

3. A juicebox in the 5.25 bay is good for me because I have 0 reason to use 2 optical drives. besides the PSU has only 1 SATA connector. I also see no use for SATA hard drives as IDE 500 GB is more than enough speed and space

having two PSUs doesn't mean your amperage will be just fine.
I would first buy a decent PSU before upgrading to a more powerful GPU.
the PSU is the backbone of your PC.
How do you connect two PSUs anyways? I know it can be done but I heard there can be a lot of risks of doing so

Assuming you know it's only a hypothetical, How will having 2 PSU's not mean my amp is fine?

unless you used performed a similar method of connecting two PSU's like this

guy

I would refrain from using 2 Power supplies in the same computer. Its not so simple as to connect 2 of the and expect it to work like a 450 +450=900w
