I am looking for a great hard drive camcorder for under $1000. Picture quality and sound quality should be decent overall. HD capabilitiy would be great. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Are you set on HDD ?? Here is a great 32gb internal flash memory camcorder at B + H photo and video that comes with a free 8gb SDHC card too and a camera bag. I have the same series, just the HF S100 instead which is just a SDHC card based cam vs internal memory. You can use a SDHC card in here too up to 32gb as well for a total of 64gb of recording.

Canon Vixia HF S10

I'd recommend getting a DSLR. Such as the Canon T2i. It's got amazing video quality, and obviously also takes pictures.

Search it up on youtube, and look at the videos from it.
