This is a prime example of a great development team that probably pulled out all the stops so both looked pretty much exactly the same. The PS3 version looks brighter but that applies to all games for some reason.

PS3's smoke efect when she fired to protect Chris was better
But the Textures look better on the 360, to bad it uses almost to strong contrast.

Showing PS3 in one scene then showing 360 on another isn't really helping as it's hard to determine which is the better.
The big guy was an interesting part. As PS3 uses less lightning and less color instead of 360 in other hand uses firecrackers for ammunition on the big fella.
On the big explosion where it shows both consoles, the PS3 have less blur on the small things.
The end is simple WOW, Chris can change clothes in a blink of an eye.
Can't compare to well there.
360 soften edges better on his clothes though.

PS3:
Clearer textures
Better smoke effect on the pistol

360
Strong Gamma
Better AA (PS3 uses 0xAA again
)
Darker colors

I hope I didn't miss any.
(I'm a PS3 fanboy more than a 360 fanboy but I try to be as fair as possible since nobody like a troll with no real info or argument to back up the trolling).

I'm of to play some more Silent Hill - Homecoming now
... on PC of course

Giant Bomb review directly recommends the 360 version because apparently the PS3 version has framerate problems.
The biggest difference I see in the 2 versions are the smoke and water effects.

The smoke clearly looks better to me on the PS3 and the water look way better on the 360.

Can't wait for tonight. Just got back from Toys r us with my $40 copy for the PS3.

Me neither. I'm really excited.

I have the game right now, just waiting for someone to play it through coop with.

Overall I agree. But only marginally.

Yeah. In the IGN Insider comparison, they said that PS3 had better black levels, but more framerate issues, which is why they recommended the 360 version.

honestly, the difference between the two is so little that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference while playing them unless you had two screens next to each other. You're decision should be based on which console you like to play more, not which one looks marginally better. That's why i dislike these comparisons.

I thought the 360 had the better smoke effect during that scene.

This doesnt show anything that 360 looks better but it sertanly proves PS3 is not superior which many claim.

360 looks more dramatic, while PS3 looks more realistic.

Aw that sucks. I wish there were more cross-platform titles.

Does anybody remember 4x4 Evo? That game could be played across all platforms.

Ok - over the past 2 weeks I've been playing the 360 version.
I just got the PS3 version 2 hours ago.

Let me tell you - its like night and day difference.

Ok first off....
The PS3 version has framerate problems. The first majini you meet, there is an instant FPS drop. Oddly enough, this does not happen during the cutscenes (and I'm about 99.9% sure the cutscenes are ingame rendered)

The PS3 version also has REALLY REALLY high black levels. I think it actually looks cool and adds onto the minimal, tiny tiny horror effect RE5 has. (This game isn't scary in the least bit. Not even a single hint of horror)

The 360 version has more AA. Its clearly obvious in game. The second I started playing, you could see that the PS3 had a ton of jaggies.

The PS3 also seems to have a lower draw distance rate. What Capcom did with RE5 is create heatwaves to mask the background so the console did not have to render everything at once. It "blurs" everything out in the background and once you go near whatever is in the background, the heat waves disappear but then the area behind you gets heatwaves. Its subtle, but the PS3 version has alot more of this effect then the 360. Meaning, the PS3 couldn't handle it.

The textures on the PS3 though seem alot clearer. The BSAA emblem for example on Chris's shirt looks a little better on the PS3 I thought then the 360. This is nitpicking though.

One thing that completely perplexes me though - is that the PS3 version seems to have more enemies. I kid you not! I've been through the campaign going on 5 times for the 360 version on all difficulties. Trust me, on veteran on the PS3 there just seems to be a :turd:load more enemies. Why? I haven't the slightest clue because its not like the PS3 handles it better, the frame rate is kind of a mess.

You better bet your money I will be making a video comparison.

Who cares they're almost the same. What it comes down to is game contracts, and the 360 wipes the floor with the amount of games. Also bad business men, and bad business deals had the PS3 doomed. With one foot in the grave since day one of the PS3. If it wasn't for the other products Sony makes the PS3 would not be here. 3 billion dollars in loses is a epic fail.
Stupid comparision. When your in the heat of action no one can tell the miniscule differences between both systems. Seriously, who is going to stand by comparing each scene frame by frame and go, "oh no! the X360 has 1 extra jagged edge than the PS3!"
