If you're loaded with cash, yes.

If not, then no. 3xx will probably be better, but will cost a bomb, knowing nVidia.
GT300 cads will still take a while
I wouldnt expect consumer/gaming cards to hit before March, and expect a hefty launch price

edit:
agreed, GT3xx will probably be better than the ATI 5xxx
Why not wait? Are you having bad fps in games atm? Also I would wait for the price drops if it ever happens. The cards go up 5 dollars every week.
I think if you can save up the money, wait for the 3xx series. Your GX2 is fine for now. I think i read somewhere people were estimating the Fermi cards almost $1000...?

$1000US ?

Well , maybe if it's twice the 5870.

Considering the 5970 is about $650 US, and Nvidia wins at overcharging and making freaks of GPU nature, they look at $1000 dollars and say, "Why the hell not?"

That's an underestimate. Insider sources have pricing at $1399 for the GTX380 model and $999 for the 360.

i wouldnt be surprised if nvidia makes us pay 1000 bucks for the cards...

remember GTX 280 used to cost 500 bucks and now you can get a used one for like 160...

I wouldnt hold your breath for those dumb fermi chips.

For 1399. I could build a real solid computer, with a i7 and and a single 295

Thats horrible.

Oh well, the only reason why i'd wait for the gt300 personally is because it could make the ATI prices decrease a little.

Anywho, i'm getting 2x 5770's for xmas so
(paying for 1 myself obviously)

Sorry, but a non-capitalist system would have no need to advance the art of gaming, as there is no 'greater good' and obviously no profit, we'd be lucky to sitting with Voodoo 3Ds right now. If that.

I wonder where the world would be if everybody ran Voodoo's...I know Crysis wouldn't exist...

Anyway, I'm celebrating capitalism. There is no way in the universe you can get rid of it, so may as well enjoy it while I'm young enough to not care

As interesting as this topic is, we dont want to start trolling lol
i believe you should wait. Even if the new nvidia cards aren't really worth the $$ then there could possibly a price drop in the ATI cards as competition fires up (I say possibly). So maybe then you can get that ATI for cheaper than if you bought it now.

Agreed. A GX2 is fine for now, so you can afford to wait, either for the 3xx series, or for a price drop in ATI's cards, which will definitely happen.

well unless you're actually struggling and need a new GPU (like me lol), i would wait - at least for the price drops that inevitably accompany competition.

I thought that the GT300 was going to make the HD5970 look like a waste of money? It better be extremely fast in that case.

I highly doubt this, but if it was truely the case, I think we would see everyone switching to ATI.

I'm guessing you're just BSing to make people comment on this
