ok im trying to start GTA and its getting an error stating that i need service pack 1 or higher.... i have service pack installed on my pc and was running the game fine just last week
also its stating i have windows vista....

my friend had the same problem and when he got it working it was running at around 12 fps on the lowest setting and his pc hardware could run gta iv on the highest settings with no problems then he installed vista and then installed gta ivand he could run it on the highest settings at around 50 fps
