you need a wheel to play this, thats pretty critical. I tried with a mouse and keyboard and it was a no go.

I was thinking about picking up the new Logitech G25 wheel package.

GTR games are pure similators, they have always had amazing graphics (GT Legends still looks amazing and it's kinda old) and all but have been realistic meaning they are very tough to learn to play well, forget about using your keyboard unless you like to lose or crash a ton, I played the demo a bit with my PS2 Logitech GT Force wheel and it was really fun but now I can drive for realsies so I have no use for a driving sim.

You're right, this is an awesome game for whoever likes all the technical stuff, the advanced tunning and all that. I played the demo and the graphics and the gameplay were great. Still, I hope I manage to get a nice whell with Ffeedback to be able to enjoy it, without the wheel it can be a little tricky in the turns.

Yep, this game is truly amazing, I love it and I have played the demo and i am going to get this game. Its so realistic, so close racing and its just like real motor sport. I am a huge motor sport fan espically F1. I hate people say its crap cos its too hard or boring, this game is for hardcore racing fans like me. I race 2 stroke karts in real life at the weekends and it is great We have close racing and good overtaking, like this game, so I would know.

you may think karting is a little different from this but its not, they are still v. fast and v. competitive, talking about 0-60mph in 4secs and top out at 90mph some with gears can even do 120mph. Its all good fun

trust me everyone, this game is absolutly fantastic

if anyone wants, ill get a few action screenys from my copy of the game. ive got some new car paintjobs so the game looks even better

its much much better than GTR and GTL doesnt match up to it

the graphics are so intense i can only run 22 cars in a race at night!

ive got my PS2 Driving force pro to play it on, and thats good, but i really would love to have a go on the new G25 wheel, pedals and gear stick set.

i play this game way too much........ 14 hours in the last 2 days

the demo isnt actually as good as the final game, so if you play the demo and think its too easy, get the full game anway, its alot harder

Edit: ive had the full copy of the game since september and ive done most of the driving school, gotta start the championships now.... its a massive game

its awesome with the wheel but i really didnt rate the gfx that highly, ive got them all set to fullest and im not that impressed, theres no real sence of speed you get with nfs:mw for example. good game if your into simulators

not really - GTR, GTL, and GTR2 have tyre physics holes you could drive a bus though, ie the slip curves for the tyres are copied for longitudinal and latidual (sp?), which doesn't sound much, but it's the sim equivalent of getting the Mona Lisa and putting Dulux paint all over it.

Me? Prefer LFS (www.LiveForSpeed.net), it's been voted the most realistic simulator on the market by the top Sim racing site (BHMS) and is great - try it, theres a demo on the site! Unfortunately, due to it having 3 developers, it doesn't look "wow", but it can look pretty good with some AA/AF and some custom textures!

EDIT - Well, before the people above jump on me, yes i have driven real cars, and karts, and im not saying GTR is too hard, but it just isn't realistic, i bought GTR, haven't re-installed it because it's full of Starforce crap, too in love with LFS to bother with GTR2...

Yea I have LFS too and it is very good. Very realistic except that you get some idiots racing so its hard to find a good server. But its multiplayer is great.

Demo, or S2? Demo is full of twats tbh, due to the fact in the demo bans are ip based it's easy to circumvent, in S2 it's based on the account you bought it with, so to circumvent it by paying another £24 puts them off wrecking!
Off-topic: What karts have you raced Jakg?
im too cheap to buy a kart, so i just race crappy rentals, nothing exciting

I've played the demo, and I liked it. It works well with the keyboard if you turn steering help on, as well as acceleration and braking help. I probably would enjoy it a lot more if I had the G25, but come on, $300 is kind of a lot for an accessory. I probably could enjoy driving a $300 car even more. NFS is ridiculously unrealistic. For example you could upshift every 2 seconds, the car gets to accelerate for only ~1 second in every gear, but it still manages to get to 90mph. But it's still fun.

the G25 is the best wheel you can pick up for a "sane" amount of cash (ie anything better will cost the same as an 8800GTX SLi setup!), however there is the "Logitech Momo Racing" and "Logitech Driving Force Pro" (it says its for Playstation - install the logitech drivers and it works on PC, too!) which are almost as good, and are £45!

Back in the days I had a P1 133 and a brand new Vodoo2 12MB (good old days) there was a Grand Tourism simulation game called VIPER RACING. It had great gfx, great tuning possibilities that I haven't seen ever since except for GTR2.
If there are any nostalgic among you, you can find some details on the game here.
