ok, ive been hearing a lot about this new card so i decided to read into it. i discovered they plan on releasing 512, 1gb and 2gb versions. my question is, what one would be best for my system (sig). i will be gaming a lot and watching in HD. also, if anyone knows, have they come out with a solid release date yet?

it's a rebranded 9800gtx+ iirc. around the same performance as an ati hd4850.
good gaming card.
what difference will i notice with the different memory levels?
It is rebrand as other said. It is a 256bit interface with DDR3 so 1GB above doesn't do any good.
Should I have gotten this card instead of the 9800 GTX+. Please advise.

based on the reviews... of course. it slightly outperforms it and costs a fair bit less

it's slightly better if you read the review. It's also right on par with the radeon 4850 and sometimes is better in games.
The 2GB model is superfluous since the card isn't powerful enough to take advantage of it. The 1GB model should be perfect for HD res, just don't expect a lot from it. Consider a GTX 260 Core 216 or 4870 1GB instead.

The 9800GTX+ 512MB is equivalent to the GTS 250 512MB.

Its basically another remake of the 9800GTX+ yet again same performance wise.
In the news section earlier this week someone posted an article about how nvidia was sending out superior cards out to review sites pre-release and then downclocking the ones that will actually be on the market. I would say get the last few 9800GTX+'s when these things are released, it is the EXACT same card and might even perform better from what I have heard. When the new ones are released the prices of the 9800GTX+'s should plummet.
I want one! $150 is a good price for a shorter, more efficient 9800GTX+. I was just about to buy one but with this releasing soon I think i'll wait! Maybe the existing 9 series cards will go down in price?

wouldnt you just be able to overclock it back to those specs then? i dont see the point in this; its still the same chip

yeah its the same chip... just dont pay too much for a gt 250 because they are the exact same as a 9800

most likely the best deals are going to be on the 9800s so may be a good time to jump on one... altho ATI has a lot of really great choices in this price range too...

Either way you can't go wrong right now.. its a good time for gpu buyers

i thought the gts 250 was 55nm so it would consume less power and overclock a tad bit more

9800 GTX+ was also 55nm.

GTS 250 is a rebrand, but will lower MSRP plus the possibility of a higher memory clocked 1GB version. Basically as good or better than 9800 GTX+ for less money. Lowering price without reducing performance is a good thing, right?

Between Ati dropping prices on the 4870 and Nvidia releasing a "new" GTS250, the 9series should definitely see a drop in prices ion the coming months. Ati shoudl also be coming out with the 47xx's late April (or so?) so prices should fluctuate like crazy in the next two months. Time to go Crossfire and Sli people!
