Get the cheaper one, 5 bucks would make the difference between those clock speeds moot. If you get the cheaper one and it is not fast enough, pm me and i will personally show you how to overclock it.

not mine
Im some what close, my core is at 650 (i have the shaders locked) but my memory is at SSC speeds.
My brothers does above ssc easily though (vanilla too)

SC. I heard that SC cards have more volts on them so they can overclock further from the start compared to vanilla cards.
im getting the evga ssc version with 626 clock. wuld that be okay?
ssc is way higher than 626. SC is 626. Either way you will be fine.
god this is complicating.. okay i was customizing a gaming pc on avadirect. and they have a broad choice of gpu's. its wierd how theres an evga gtx260/216 at 626mhz and theres a bg tech gtx260/216 ocx at 655mhz

and the bfg one is only 10 dollars more...
would the bfg tech one be a better choice? since its already clocked a little bit higher?

I'm always willing to pay up to as much as 20 USD more for an SC version, in hopes that the good overclockers have be binned up with the SC's and SSC's etc.

Heck I sometimes pay 20 USD for second day air shipping, (just to help relieve my anxiety about it making it here intact.
)

But any more than 20 bucks and I would just say go Vanilla, cause like the others said, most of the Vanilla's OC well.

on avadirect they dont have the 'vanilla' one ... i dont even know what the 'vanilla' one is..
woul the bfg tech at 655 be fine tho for overclocking?

If I'm not mistaken the "Vanilla" people refer to, is just a stock clocked one, (575Mhz core, is stock I think). Confused me first time I heard it too. I don't think it will be called "Vanilla" on the websites.

It's not hard, install/connect a few things and you're done.

There are a lot of folks here that could get you a list of components, all the help you need to assemble it is right here on OCN

correct.
As for the BFG costing $10 more, well its up to you, it could be a better overclocker, it has a better chance at overclocking higher id say.
I love EVGA though but BFG is also a great company. (i had a bfg card run flawless for 2 years until I sold it and so has my friend)

Agreed. Need to know the price, but if it is the right price I'd say that looks like a rig I would want. Good Job.

EDIT: yah beat me with the price post tweaker, sorry. That doesn't look too over the top price-wise, but not sure if it is the cheapest you could get it for. Let me look around for a minute BRB....

Doesn't look to be *considerably* cheaper at NewEgg, but maybe NewEgg could do a little better by giving you some savings by getting some combo deals (example CPU-Motherboard combo)

Other than that, it looks to be decent price.
