thats the one i ordered, i picked it because of the Core 216, the mail in rebate and it has nicely OC'd clocks from the factory and free Far Cry 2

Do these cards OC very well?

btw i'm coming from an 8800GTS 640mb, how much of a performance boost do you think i will see?

also are there any coolers for GTX 260's out yet?

Yeah the cards OC pretty well but it all depends on your card :/ http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3334&p=1 for the complete details but it is a significant jump especially at a higher res. I made the jump for an 8800gts 512 to that card and it was nice

You'll see about a 100% performance gain
These cards do usually overclock very well, they rely more on low temps than volts for higher clock speeds. Oh crap, MSI... Not exactly the best. Might not be the best at overclocking compared to an EVGA card for example. Anyway, you will see a massive performance gain.

Dood I used to have 8800gts 640 oc, then upgraded to sli.

GTX 260 sc beats both on sli so much.

I oc'd to 670 core, 1512 (folding stable), 1100 mem
Like Waverider599 said, the OC depends on the card. My gtx 260 (core 192) doesn't oc very well in comparrison to most. Average max OC on the shaders is 1512, memory oc's are all different but average is around 1150 (2300 effective). The core clock is basically is different, but ussually you become limited by what your shaders can do and not the what the core can do. My oc is 729-1458-1058 (Overclocking my ram does nothing for performance for me except raise my temps)

The cooling is pretty effective on the GTX 260s so I don't know of any after market coolers with the exceptions of waterblocks, which doesn't really help you.

Performance boost will be nice, but the GTX 260 is really designed for 24" monitors and above...it does well with smaller monitors, but it can keep up on the bigger monitors where other cards die off quickly.

I have the eVGA and the MSI 260, and the MSI actually runs cooler, and overclocks better, and my eVGA overclocks pretty well compared to most 260's.. my MSI was the stock card, but I got a factory OC'd one that runs 620/1296 or something shaders/ and 1100 memory.. so that's cool.

I'm able to run both my cards from the stock 675mhz Core up to 744 Mhz Core and 1512 shaders, with 1150 memory and still bench with that. they are pretty stable.

Thats a solid deal, 189, MIR to $155, and a free FC2 copy.. sell that game, and you'll have paid $110. lol
gabe, if you're lucky you'll be able to hit 675/1480/1125 or even higher on your GTX 260.

I can push mine around those clocks and I get a really great score in 3dmark06 and I get great in-game performance.

Good luck with your new gtx 260 and with overclocking...

thats a silly thing to say about the silliest thing ive heard all day in fact. i had an EVGA 8800ULTRA that sucked HARD wouldnt oc worth a damn i also had 2 MSI ULTRAS and they both OCed about 100mhz more than anyother ultra i ever saw.

the 260 is a banging card...... all you have to remember is to strap yourself down before you start gaming......lol

that one you picked is pretty ugly though, it looks half finished..... couldn't MSI afford to cover the PCB completely..??

I have a vanillla EVGA GTX260(just bought it last week for $149) and I think it rocks so you will dig your 216. I mainly bought it so I could use the GPU to encode but it plays UT3 at 1900 HQ no problem.
Not trying to thread jack, but how much of a OC is required in order for the 260 to perform like a 280?
