I have a EVGA GTX 470 that does 880/1760/837 on 1.087v

I didn't get anything back from my Tax Return this year (I'm on social assistance)

I get ~400 bucks to play with each month after I pay my rent, and my cell phone, and I don't get paid until april 31st.

Should I go SLI?

How much should I expect to pay for one USED (shipped) in USD?

I paid $200 shipped in late october for my EVGA GTX 470 -- from USA (NYC).

Games I play:

Counter Strike 1.6 (Lame, I know), CSS, Metro 2033, COD:BO, Crysis 2, and GRID, FC2, and GTA:IV.

I play at 1920x1200 usually with some AA and AF.

If I do get one -- lets say for 180-200 shipped that's 200-220 left over that I can use for groceries and stuff.

What do you guys think?

I had SLI before but I didn't have a bridge and the other card could barely do 800MHz.

What is your current FPS in your games? If you're not getting 60FPS constant (No dip under that) Then you should be fine with your only 470. But for first person shooters more FPS does help.

A 470 should be sufficient for most games today at decent settings.

You also have a Q6600. I'd say you better save it towards a new CPU + Mobo + GPU in near future.

If I were to upgrade, I would only upgrade the graphics since putting any more money towards socket 775 seems stupid to me.

I do need a bigger HDD though, I will most likely pick that up along with the GTX 470 if I were to get it

I plan on going sandybridge in september/october/nov somewhere around there

The only game my single 470 doesn't own is Crysis, all others bow before it's mite

I should add that I do not own 2033, but I have played the demo for Tom Clance's
Hawks 2 and got great frames with max settings.

I vote for better ram like 4 gigs of 1066mhz. DDR2

With that said you should be able to pick up a 470 for less then 180
I saw one over at Evga market place for 165

Call me a ****** but I don't really monitor my frames.. but everything seems to run smoothly. The only 2 games I cannot really run is Crysis 1 and Metro smoothly. I get around I think 40 fps at 1920x1200 DX10. I can test it out if you really want.

It's not that important

I was only curious given my Asus VE276Q will be here tomorrow, I can see for myself

The GTX 470 should be fine for most games, especially at that resolution. I would save up and wait for ivy bridge when it comes out after summer. Looking at just 160GB, I would assume that it's an old drive and a new one would certainly improve load times and give you plenty of space.

Didn't you already have two gtx 470s and you sold one?

I don't think you need SLI. SLI is for people like me who bench a lot and like to force stupid high settings in the control panel just to see their cards cry for mercy.

I had two, but sold one since it didn't overclock very well.

I have to admit, I love benching so I wouldn't mind getting better scores.

Also, to the "ivy" comment. I might just wait til ivy, but sandybridge sounds enticing.

And yes the harddrive is in need of an upgrade, badly.

I just want two GTX 470's for when I go sandy/ivy

Save up and go with a i5-2500k and a 470 and perhaps even an SDD at the same time. One complements the other. The Q6600 is probably going to hold back SLI anyways.

I have two upgrades left before I'm done for a few months, SSD and a few more WC parts to add to expand my loop and include my second 470.

yeah, I will most likely go SB, i7 2600k, Asus P67 Sabertooth, G-Skill Ripjaws..

I just figure, i'll offset the cost of the GPU by buying it now.

I'm glad I have WC already so that should help immensely

you're right. I will weigh out my options.

I also have the opportunity to work with my father whenever I can. So I figure for SB all I have to do is work two weeks and BAM I have SB.
