i have a single gtx 460 wich im thinking about upgrading for a gtx 560ti or a gtx 570 the problem is right now i only have a i3 [email protected] im worried its bottlenecking my 460 so i can imagine what it would do to gtx 560 or 570 i can get a cheap i5 760 but then would have to wait for the gtx 560 or 570 so would i be better off getting the i5 760 for now with the gtx 460 and next week get the gtx 570 + in the following weeks get a second gtx 570 wich is the best performance upgrade path?

sorry i should i have mentioned in my rig specs that i have the gtx 460se is there going to be much of a increase in fps in games?
also i'll edit my rig specs to update to gtx460se gpu!!!

This. Unless you can get a fantastic price on the 570 (and it's one with great VRM cooling) I'd recommend a 560, or a 6950 if you're not against going red.

Edit: Also, coming from an SE, you're gaining 96 CUDA cores. That's a pretty significant difference. A standard 1G 460 is 10-15% slower than a 560 clock for clock. Moving from an SE to a 560 Ti would probably be a 20% + gain clock for clock.

yeah see the problem is i really like nvidia had a few ati cards did'nt like what they offered so ill stick with nvidia thanks though!!!

Your PSU will be able to handle any single GPU. SLI is another matter and I would recommend upgrading to a 750-850W. 570s were amazing, too bad that performance wasn't really needed for what I was playing. I'd definitely go SLI again in the future, but if the prices of the 580 drop during my step up, I'm heading that way.

It's never been a matter of VRMs not being cool enough, it's that they don't have enough VRMs to handle the current that the cards can draw. It doesn't matter what kind of cooling you have.

I'd bet it's a mix of both. I've never had a problem with both my cards when I had it and they hardly ever reached 70C with a custom fan setting.

im not worried about the res im @ i just want the extra power for my new display!
