My bf water cooled his GTX 580 but it is not done right it works but i want to get him the proper water cooling for it, but i don't know what is the proper water cooling kit to get. I don't what to ask my bf because i want to surprise him. So what is the proper way to water cool a GTX 580?

Are you meaning that your BF has a universal GPU block..?

I am assuming that your talking about a Full cover block for a GTX580.. But before we can help you, We need to know the Exact GTX580 he is using!

Also is his whole pc water cooled? Like do you need a whole kit or just a water block?

There is no kit for gpu. And it takes quite some planning to do watercooling "properly".

By no means I am trying to discourage you.

In summary you need a pump, tubing, fittings, radiator, waterblock, water, reservoir option

To help you we need to know the components of the rig, at least the exact model of 580 and the case to start with
