What is better? Why? Is it much of a difference, and is it worth getting crossfire 8970m over the single 780m? What is the desktop gpu equivalent of each mobile gpu

780m = GTX 680
8970m = HD 7870

8970m in CFX is going to be faster, but its also going to use significantly more power, while also putting out quite a bit more heat, I would go with the 780m

I don't think 780m = 680. maybe 780m = 660 ti or 760.
780m is probably 30% more powerful than 8970m, but has almost double the price of 8970m. Anyway 8970m is a re-badged 7970m.

And thats where you're thinking is wrong

they both have 1536 cuda cores, while yes the 780m is lower clocked, that doesn't mean its not the same GPU

Your last post says 780m = desktop 680. talking about performance this is wrong (we are not talking about gpu spec here).
