Long story short I just built my first PC yesterday. Everything went together fine despite how nerve racking it was worrying about will it start first time, it did!

Now the problem I'm facing is whenever I run a type of benchmark or even GTA 5 on high/ultra settings I get a continuous whining noise, I can't exactly describe it.

Here is what it sounds like, doesn't seem as bad when listening to a recording.

So I done some tests. I put the card back into my old PC and run the same benchmark, the noise is not there. It's perfect.

Old PC.

When I put the GPU back into my new PC, run the same benchmark that noise is back.

Does this mean it's my new PSU causing this problem? What other component could be causing this irritating noise during games/benchmarks.

Old PC - Corsair 650w TX.
New PC - Corsair 750w 80 PLUS® Gold

Everyone has their own opinions of things, sounds like you haven't even received the card yet. See if it does actually whine when it is installed.

Pretty sure there isn't any such thing as a 2gb 980 TI.

Also the vast majority of cards have coil wine to some degree. It occurs particularly when the card is running extremely high frame rates (like in the thousands). You might hear it during game menus for example. I believe it IS covered in warranties though if it really bothers you, though it isn't considered a defect. EVGA is also pretty good about refunds/exchanges so not exactly up a creek without a paddle.

I have corsair RAM and it's never had a problem. Don't panic. Worst case scenario return what you're not happy with. As for the 980ti, it's the best card to buy right now. There will always be negative reviews on everything, so don't sweat it.

People with negative experiences are more vocal. Everyone has their own opinions, so just listen to your own

My GPU has quite bad coil whine, it was only ever at above 100fps though. I put it under my desk, not its silent D:

Most places will let you RMA for bad coil whine (I think) so just see if yours has an issue.

I still want to know what the "2Gb 980Ti" nonsense is though. Answers, please?

A 980Ti with 2047Mb simply does not exist.

6GB on the box lol. I'm using speccy, thought it was reliable program. Is there anything similar to speccy? I kind of like having it.

Most of us here are using CPUz, GPUz and HWMonitor, try them out

Wait - you have the card - it's installed, and you are asking if it's noisy?

If you have to ask - then no - it isn't.

Also - I have 16Gb of Corsair Vengeance 2400MHz, no problems here, although it's DDDR3, so that might not be useful.
