Currently I have a 22inch and a 19inch monitor running on my GTX280. I usually play games on the 22inch and leave the 19inch for other tasks. (ie web browser) I was thinking of adding a 7600GT in my second PCIE slot so that I can run the 19inch using the 7600GT and have the GTX280 running only on the 22inch.

My question is, will I be able to do this and still be able to have both monitors act as one big desktop? (span) Also, will it prevent the second monitor from taking performance away from the GTX280 when I'm gaming using that card?

Used to run an 8800 Ultra with a 6600 on the side for another monitor.

Worked just fine. Spanning works decently automatically in Windows, not sure with 7, but if you need more options UltraMon is excellent for that.

As for gaming, I never noticed any performance decreases at all having the second card in. Obviously, the 6600 was never used for gaming.
