hey guys so i have a question
im runiing 470in sli

my normal idle temps are 40c for both cards at 65% fan, its pretty hot where i live right now

but when i run dual monitors my first card sits at 55c at the same speed

is this norma or do i have a defective card?

It should be doing more work as the resolution is higher.

How about the second card?

What are your clocks (real-time!) at the time you get 55*C ?

my second card stay exaclty the same, how it was with out the second monitor
right now the clock are :
405 810 1674
and the temp is 55c

but the weird thing is when i play games, they temps gett very close together

gp1: 75c
gpu2: 70c
thats at almot 80%load constatly with 65% fan speed

Your cards aren't getting to idle clocks, that the reason why your cards idle that 'high'. When they're at 51/101/100 there's only .875V applied while at 405 MHz there is .887V applied along with higher clocks. This is the cause of your higher clocks (and also higher power consumption which is bad when idling).

You should close any apps that use your GPU and then check again. (YouTube for example)

nVidia cards goto full clocks on multimonitor setups as fair as I know, so they will run hotter, as they are not at idle clocks.
