Hey guys, I'm starting the purchase for my new computer. I set my budget at 900, but it just goes up and up. The rest of the parts I'm waiting for the prices to drop a little, so I'll purchase them after Christmas probably. Today I just couldn't stand it anymore....and I bought this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133021

The va8003bws, armor with the big blower on the side.

My order is still being processed so I can probably still cancel, is there any cases that's cheaper and better than this? lol. I paid about 171 after shipping and tax (live in Cali, damn all the stores are in Cali)

I like how it has a bunch of fans, review says they are quiet. I plan to get a conroe e6300 rig and overclock it. The cpu fan will be big typhoon and planning to get

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835108072

to go on the Northbridge of the ds3 because I plan to oc to 3.0 ghz.

arg, the purchase looks so good yet so bad so bad.....

Consider this for a NB, if it fits your config that is
$20

Thermalright has a compatability chart, but not all MBs are listed and may require a little measuring to confirm it will fit. You can use it without a fan but you may add one to it.

Man i never thought ide say that

I think it's butt ugly, but that's just me. The Armor is a great case, and I think it's worth the price, but it is expensive.

First off, if you dont do anything, you will be very happy with the Armor. I have never used one myself, but everyone who has loves it to death, and it looks very very good.

Secodly, when it comes to cases, its a lot of personal preferance. If you think you spend to much on the case, then cancel and keep looking. I recently replaced my Antec P180 with a Lian-Li PV-V1200, and it took me WEEKS to deside what case I wanted to get.

Not to mention about 49 threads asking us our opinions.

If you decide you don't want to spend the amount the Armor costs, look at the Antec P180. It's also a great case, and has some features that might appeal to you (dead quiet, interesting layout), and it costs a considerable amount less than the Armor, usually around $130 shipped.

Have you any idea of what your eventual system is going to include, both initially and down the line a bit?

When doing a new rig, I start with the motherboard, as that pretty much determines what everything else can and/or should be. The CPU is then a natural choice so I can wait until what I want comes up on a special or at the last minute just buy the bugger at the best price I've found. Same with memory. That leaves three significant choices, HDDs, ODDs and Graphics. Those follow what I need the rig to do and for the most part, its the number of drives not what specific models that counts. The Graphics are also pretty standardized as to size and you'll get one or two. All the above determines the PSU you will need. Then, and only then do I get to the case. Given the upteem qwadziggillion cases available, its inconceivable you won't find what you want.

The only alternate would be if I wanted to use or create a specific case to build a rig into. But then the choice of a case is already made.

My question is what's your hurry? If you aren't going to purchase the rest of the parts until after xmas, why not wait with the case for a possible sale or maybe a more desireable case, they are coming out with 3.62 tatillion more every day. As it is, now you'll have that case sitting about, looking at you with its gaping openings and ports, constantly begging you to buy, buy, buy!! Might not be the best influence to have about.

Keep the case, your guilt will go away when you hold it in your arms and realize you just got one of the best cases on earth.

wow, so many quick replies thnx guys.
my rig that will be built in 2-3 months:

e6300 + big typhoon

gigabyte ga-p965-ds3 with some type of heat sync or something on the NB

2gb of ram, currently looking at the crucial 10th anniversary edition, ddr2 667 ram, people has had success overclocking it to ddr2 1000 or so, plus it's $229 when it goes on sale.

1 sata hd + 2 pata for now, the pata's may go outside in external enclosures, plan to add 1-3 more hd's in the future.

videocard: was gonna get the x1800xt 512 for around 200, but now looking to see where things go in the next 2 months

soundcard: turtle beach card, look for one with dig coax out, or optical, looking to get a receiver 2-3 years down the line with speakers. Currently using Klipsch 5.1

dvd-rw: already have a plextor 12x, got it for $10 hehe
power supply: xclio good power 500w, $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835108072

the case I prefer a full-tower, I have a full tower right now, 5 years old, tooless, but I don't like all the doors and junk, I want a clean look, plan to take the flaps off the armor. Also I heard the armor is pretty quiet even with all those fans.

I also want good cooling, lots of room to work with, that 900 case looks good except it's a big smaller. Damn really gotta consider that 900 case now... Plus that extra 25mm fan will hopefully help...

I e-mailed for a cancellation for now, anymore suggestions? lol. I'll order it again if I need to. Getting my paycheck this week......probably should consider doing some overtime, lol.

ooo the 900 seems to have a fan speed control....the armor doesn't seem to have that, DAMNIT they need to combine some cases out there together.

ps. 900 has 2 front 120mm fans and the armor has only 1?

You can run up to 3 120mm fans in the front of the Armor. Also if you get a 3 1/2inch fan controller it will mount in the movable tray for the power switch.
