The bump from1 GB towards 2GB is controversial, and gaming wise will just not make a difference as 99.95% of the titles out there have plenty of graphics card memory with a 1GB framebuffer. Only if you'd go really high in monitor resolution and your AA settings, at best you can gain a few % performance increase .. and that's at best.

What I do like about the Vapor-X is the cooler, using 'vapor chamber' technology. Other then that the clock speeds are reference as well at 750 MHz on the core and 900 MHZ (x4 DDR5) for the memory.

hmm not bad, but for the price? i'd rather get a 4850x2

depends on pricing for this card. If they drop the 512mb versions to $130-$150, then 1gb versions - $180-$200, and the 2gb to $230-$250 then it will be a good deal. But if this card is $300+ it won't be because a GTX 285 will probably beat it.
4 times original memory....new record?

Not sure it will help much.

It will help alot in Crossfire since memory is mirrored over the cards rather than being split up.

will this finally have enough memory to handle the high res textures in crysis?
that might be the end of the 4870x2 because people could just CF that and have double the memory...

there are plenty of cheapo cards with 1GB of ram that originated with 256mb. I think there may be a 8400GS 1gb. If im right that would be 8x since i think there is a 128mb 8400GS

*waits appropriately for benchies & possibility of 4890 containing this*
This might be a nice card for games that have optional texture packs, like Crysis and Oblivion.

coming from the guy with the 4870 1GB.

i really wanna see how this card performs in crossfire and crossfireX, to see if you can crank up to 16xAA

This will probably help crossfire setups more then most of you think. More ram the better right? its much better to be overkill then be choking your card/s because of the lack of memory. The price will determine if this card is a success or a fail.
I think this card will shine when paired with a twin in CrossFire.

1GB is a more reasonable amount than 2gb for most games

Now that needs benchmarked asap. Wonder how it'd compare aginst the 4870 X2 at high resolutions.

honestly, the jump from 512 to 1GB didn't seem like it was really a marked improvement. I just don't buy that another gig will push this card any further.
