Thanks for the charts.
Wish they did this for Laptop cards.
Amazed that the 5970 outperformed 5870 crossfire in crysis warhead, but not in some other games. interesting.
I am amazed that publications like Guru still call 2 cards in Crossfire CrossfireX.

CrossfireX is 3 or more GPUs correct? 2 GPUs is just plain 'ol Crossfire unless I missed that memo...

No

CFX is any combo.

Since when?

Crossfire is two cards and three or more cards was coined CrossfireX. If that isn't the case then why do other smaller publications see it like that?

/edit

I have two 5870s in CROSSFIRE not CROSSFIREX...if I were to add a third(if it were possible) then the X moniker takes hold...right?

Thanks for the information. But that still makes no sense at all to me. CrossfireX(with the X) was coined when the 3870x2 came out and people put 4 GPUs together. It should ahve stayed that way - Crossfire (2 GPUs) TriFire (3 GPUs and CrossfireX (4 GPUs). To lump it all into one category makes no sense to me but whatever. I do thank you for the information.

5870 CF hardly seems a upgrade from GTX285 SLI.
Makes all the sense in the world, 5870/5850 CFX.
The X referring to ability to CF all cards within X generation.
Great info. I'm glad to see my 4870x2 is still holding it's own.....because it's going to have to last me for a while

It is crazy to see two 5850s beating a 5970. I'd expect two 5870s to beat it, but not two 5850s. Oh well, by the time I buy my next card(s) Fermi and 6xxx series will both be out.

CrossFireX is just when you have 2 or more discrete ATI gfx cards working together.

From ATI/AMD's website:
http://game.amd.com/us-en/crossfirex_about.aspx

What Is ATI CrossFireX™
ATI CrossFireX™ is the ultimate multi-GPU performance gaming platform. Enabling game-dominating power, ATI CrossFireX technology enables two or more discrete graphics processors to work together to improve system performance. For The Ultimate Visual Experience™, be sure to select ATI CrossFireX ready motherboards for AMD and Intel® processors and multiple ATI Radeon™ HD graphics cards.

People just say CrossFire because it's easier than saying/writing the real name, CrossFireX.

2 5770s in CrossFireX...pretty awesome results!
