Guy Builds PhysX Based Fully Destructable UT3 Level

Check this out some guy built a little demo level with fully destructible walls and floors using the Unreal Development Kit and PhysX.

Imagine in the future when games and mods really start to implement stuff like this.

Why did you have to post this?
I didn't know the UDK was released. Now I'm going to spend countless hours creating cool stuff.

I don't think that its they dont like PhysX, its that you can't use it with and ATI card that they don't like.

This is something that can be done without PhysX and solely run the Unreal engine without it.
Can't wait until games are like this.

Plus, OpenCL is FOSS, so it gets better marks in my book from the start. Can't wait till it goes mainstream.

Meh, it's pretty cool. Just get rid of the proprietary part of PhysX and use OpenCL or something.

Not hating on PhysX, hating on the proprietary part.
my biggest issue with physX (particularly in situations like this) is that it would look better if it didn't break as it breaks in uniform chunks and doesn't look realistic at all

there are hacked drivers you can use to get around it.

he said what b/c in his sig rig he has 2x 4830s and a physx card with the driver hack
mm nice! but did he cut a ramp (starting at 3.38) into 3 parts but the middle part stayed hanging in the air?

it does not look like the floors fall down, but if you look closely the walls do come down i think, it was hard to tell it happens kinda fast.

I'm pulling this out of my ass since I haven't touched the UDK yet, but in one of the dude's videos he mentions something about "support blocks". He said that without these, firing a rocket at a fracture wall would only knock off one block; with them, the wall will crumble like normal.
So it's my guess that the dude did not use support blocks on the ramps, thus it didn't fall when he cut a large chunk out of it.
That's just my guess from what I saw in the 2 videos I watched of the UDK so far lol.
There could be totally different explanation.

I wished he used a gun in that video to show some matrix lobby scene action but instead he dicked aorund with a laster for 6 minutes..cool

still awesome though
