I am deciding on painting the internals of my HAF932, it being that lame gray color. I have a couple questions tho if anyone minds taking a peak!

1. Is there a good way to go about painting the inside of the case without removing the rivets? (I can't say I am good with re-adding rivets considering I've never done it and don't want to mess up the integrity of the case)

2. The one good painting guide I saw stickied seemed to involve a super expensive high quality paint job with gloss coats and what not. I was curious if anyone has a guide or maybe a "hey dumbass just do this" for me on just a flat black internal paint job that won't get mess up my computer or fall off in a month.

there is a pretty simple way of doing this.
materials: sandpaper, spray paint,some self etching primer (ask someone at homedepot what kind you should get, tell them you want to paint a metal computer case.)

first take some sand paper and rough up the places you want to paint, that will help the paint stick better.

second, apply a light layer of primer so that the paint underneath is still visible. wait 15-20 minutes put on another coat. put as many coats as many coats on as you want. I usually do three or until the paint underneath isnt visible or barely visible. wait a couple hours before painting.

third: take your paint and apply a light coat like you did with the primer. wait 30-40 minutes apply another coat. keep applying coats until you get the solid color that you want.

fourth: wait a day before touching any painted part, so the paint is fully applied.

tips

patience is key

the lighter the coats and the more the coats, the better the finish.

optional

if you want it to look shiny and glossy and fancy, you can appy clear coat after the priming and painting is done. (ask your local homedepot paint dude about it.)

Oh I'll have to join the Massachusetts OC Club you are in. Thanks a lot for the tips, I'm just concerned about getting any paint or primer on the already painted parts, but like you said patience and I suppose a lot of tape!

I use wet/dry sand paper, and a tack cloth afterwards. In situations like this, primer is almost more important than the actual paint. Don't buy your stuff from oddlots or the dollar store.

Ya I will most likely get the ambition to do it in a couple weeks with my next paycheck and buy stuff from home depot. Whats annoying is I've fiddled with my case so much that there are 3 top screws that hold on the button panel and 2 of the screw holes are stripped and I am not very good at do it yourself fix things. So I'm not sure if I should try to re-thread the holes with a bigger screw or not.

yup a LOT of tape! some cardboard usually helps to cover big things too

But ya I really want to paint my case and make nicer looking because I have a lot of money put into it and I just got myself a Rasa 750 watercooling kit and that plain color just looks so bad. I guess im a little worried about messing up screw holes and things like that when I paint it.

I meant like over painting them and possible screwing up the threads, but I guess thats only a worry with thick paints maybe.

you won't really have to worry about that, if it does become a problem just screw the screw in until it stops, turn back a 1/4 of a turn then turn again until it stops and repeat. I use tis trick when I need to re-thread something or replace the screws in a fan with different size screws.
