Hey guys, so i have my old laptops hard drive which wont boot anymore, i am going to put it in my enclosure and try and transfer my files off of it, however, the laptop had windows vista on it and the account that contains the files i want to recover has a password on it.

iv heard that when the account has a password that its impossible to get the files that are in it, is this true? if so is there anyway that i can get them?

do you not own the password or have you forgotten it?
nope, i own it, and i know it, the drive itself wont boot so i cant just go in and copy them that way
Well I find when i put it in my cheapo sata-ide-lappy ide-> USB it like overrides all that password data so use something similar and it should work.

i've just tried a google search and came up with nothing helpful. All i can say is give it a go and if it works it works. Otherwise i'd be ringing up microsoft and see if there is a way of doing it.
