Dual benched

Seems it's good on it's own, but when paired, it's a total waste of money. Plus the power consumption...

coz its crossfire 5870s on a single PCB, much easier to install than 2 gpus. it has 4gb of ram vs 1gb of RAM on each card were you to Crossfire 2 5870s separately, and its new.

Actually, if it destroys sli'ed 480, then it might be worth it.

Reminds me of the single-PCB GTX295 in many ways, although this one is obviously of much higher quality.

I'm pretty sure that the 5970 is a dual 5850 on a single PCB while this has dual 5870 on a single PCB.

^this^

You are right, the 5970 is dual 5850.

But I agree with some users that I don't really see the point of this card. Better to crossfire 2 5870, it'd be cheaper IMO.

Anyways we'll see ones the benchies are up.
Correct. The current 5970 has 5870 GPUs clocked at 5850 speeds. So this card is essentially an OCed 5970 with 4Gb vRam between the 2 cores instead of 2Gb vram to split between the 2 GPU cores.

For clarification, the 5970 cores have 1600 SP like the 5870, but run at 725/1000 like the 5850. But the 5850 only has 1440 SP.
