You describe the same crash I have, except it hard-locks the computer and can only be remedied by the reset button.
First movement gets jumpy, 1-3 seconds later static sounds, then 1-5 seconds later gray screen/hard lock sometimes with painful noises.

If you can try using a usb headset/soundcard or HDMI audio through your videocard. that fixes it for me.
I thought it was my sound card at first, but no. The problem is definitely the monitoring software. I can reproduce the problem _every_ single time with GPUz, and every single time without it, I have no problems with BFBC2.
