I awoke to a corrupted operating system which refused to let me fix it, and i had to reinstall my entire operating system again.

I lost everything except my important documents which i had saved on an online storage facility.

Now i am in the process of downloading ALL of my steam games again.. At a speed of 1.5-2 mb/s. It takes like an hour or more to finish 1 game....

Yea, i had too when i reinstalled and my fileserver's games backup drive had killed itself, and i didn't realise.

Very bad timing.

I got 20megabit unlimited internet, just left the PC on for 1 night and my 5 most played games had come down, then i just downloaded the rest of them whenever i felt like playing them.

Also, it's too late now, but sometimes you can fix steam corruptions by backing them up, and reinstalling steam, or removing steam.blob.

Also, i recommend you keep backups of your steam games on DVDs or different drives, it keeps you sane.

Don't feel bad. It takes me an hour to download 100mb.

I've done it a few times..
HL2, CSS, BFBC2, CoD, Fallout and a bunch of games..

I keep backups of saved games for the SP games (Those that are stored in my doc's) and i take a monthly backup of the Steamapps folder, even though i usually just dl them again, the one or two i play one a regular basis first then the other ones.

Steam Sync has made it so easy to reroll your OS these days..

^This, I have found out the hard way this is the best thing to do. Just make sure you backup your saves because I ALWAYS forget to before I reinstall.

i've had to re-install a couple of times but through steam i just backed them up and saved somewhere else, so it really not that much of a hassle to install them again, but the one thing i always forget to do when something happens to force a re-install is backing up save files for the games so i have to start over from the beginning...

I feel for you, I do. I wore my Mr. Dumasshoal hat for 3-4 days while I re-downloaded my games just so I can back up a majority of them (107 games/584GB acquired in less than 3 months.) Taught me a severe lesson on procrastination and why I should back up frequently.....especially when I was trying to figure out how to OC my CPU.

What is your steady download speed from Steam with your 20Mb connection?
I'm curious too. I have 24 Mbit connection, but Steam doesn't care. Max I have ever gotten through Steam is 4 Mbit's and I think only one or two games out of hundred ever got that high. My average is 2 Mb
