Having 2nd thoughts on 5850 for Gaming

So I'm determined to buy a Sapphire 5850 this or next weekend.. but I'm having 2nd thoughts. Price is not an issue since I can get one at MSRP ($270) here in the Phils, but during my research I've found numerous problems with the 58XX series like the ATI powerplay downclocking feature (there's a thread here with this issue), some games crashing when using 58XX, and a bunch of others. I'm not sure if those are isolated cases or bad luck, but can I have some feedback from gamers here that they're playing smoothly with the 5850? need some postive assurance that I will most likely avoid any problems when I get a 5850

It's also temporary, with 2 5850's on the way lol.

GET the card my man. Overclocked, these guys beat stock 5870's and just turn up the fan speed a tad and the heat should not be too much of an issue. The only cards I've heard about downclocking are the 5970's.

If money's no issue, buy it. If any issue RMA or troubleshoot. There hasn't been any major problems and things will only improve as driver support gets more mature.

However, say goodbye to the old ntuner and the ability to force features. Nvidia drivers and support is still the best.
the new series plays older games like crap. windows on my desktop have trailing effects especially with catalyst and overdrive open. its so so at the moment with me. I dont feel its much a hardware issue as a software issue. Im not bangin my head yet, Ill wait for it to get worse. Just be sure to buy a decent brand 5850 and you should be o.k.
Amazing card, and never had problems with em. Get it.
