I don have alot of time to post but this is my only chance at post it tonight.

Getting into the niddy griddy here I just purchased a new rig. It consists of the parts as follows.

P8P67 Deluxe

Intel core i7 2600k at right now 3.40 GHZ

G.Skill 8gb ripjaw x ddr3

one gtx 560 superclocked (came sced atlready)

Ralink RT61 Turbo network card

Coolermaster silent pro 1000w gold PSU

Collermaster HAF X Blue edition that does include all fans even the optional top 200mm fan.

With this here is my problems. Currently I have windos 7 x64 bit and its WORKING. What the issue is, is that my network card WILL NOT stay connected to the WRT54G router we have. This card was in my olders system and it worked fine. Also, I cant download anything as it just times out as well as looking at internet stuff. Also my ping will shoot up to over 22k in Ventrilo so I cant even use that to talk to my friends.

My only other issue is that I am getting HIGH TEMP cpu problems upon bootup. I press F1 and it starts windows 7 x64 bit normally. When i get into windows I check the following programs one at a time to see. Note that TUBO BOOST and TPU on my mobo are ON but nothing changing on my cpu, it isnt getting any boost at all and is right now stuck at the stock speed of 3.40 GHZ.

In the Bios it shows my system at 80C OR HIGHER however, in windows on THREE different programs it shows my system at

27C-38C, this is not under load settings as I cant put anything on my computer yet until the network thing gets fixed.

I hve the updated bios on the MOBO, my wife's computer is running fine on the internet that we have so it appears to be my new compy. It is really idaaspointing that its going to crap because I spent over 1.3k on this system and I cant even brows the net at a decent speed. I also have the correct drivers for my NIC card so I realyl dont know what could be happening with my system. Other then that, my rig is working perfectly.

ok now that i am at home. the router is wrt54gs made by linksys. i cant download anything really, it is still trying to load a website right now after 20 minutes. it was working fine before, yesterday on my old computer, but it is not working on this new one. i am pretty sure that i have all the new drivers for the ralink card. i would use the onboard one, but i need a wireless card for me to have the internet in my house. the router is located in another room of the house. my wife's computer is seeing the internet fine and is having no issues. we are thinking about trying to switch cards and see if that helps anything. the memory i have is 4g x 2 g.skill fs-10666clsd-8gbxh, these are running at stock, could this be a reason for me to be going so slow? Also, its shows that I am connected to the internet, it somtimes drops, it goes REALLY slow and around halfway from loading this website it gave the normal error or not being able to find it. It has not dropped connection yet as I have been home for 30 minutes but I will keep you updated. When I try and download somthing it got to 23% in adobe and then told me it timed out totally, using adobe as an example.

still showing 70-80C is the BIOS, going to try reseating it. i use arctic silver 5 thermal paste and i am using a stock CPU cooler. temperature programs used: CPUID hw monitor, speedfan, and AI SUITE 2

a new devopement happened when i got home. when i booted the computer is said that the overclock failed please enter setup. i think this was due to the CPU being seen as 81C by the BIOS. i did cllick the overclock easy mode button in the BIOS and my tpu switch is on currently and the cpu is at 3.40ghz stock still. it wouldnt boot to windows 7 64 with the asus easy mode oc button clicked.

I just reseated the CPU and its telling me the same thing. We didnt use alt of thermal paste, probably 2 drops and spread it around over the whole cpu. It still is telling me right now that I am at 87 degreesC
. It really sucks to have a 1.3k paper weight.

Reguarding the PCI card, yes I used this exact same pci card in my old rig and it worked fine. It is telling me that I have great signal strength. My wife is alittle closer to the router and has as good signal strength to me.

As far as where the router is, Its in my spare bedroom. If you were to draw a straight line from my computer to the router you would have my couch, loveseat, my wife's computer, and 2 walls between us and the router yet her computer is running rock solid and mine isnt able to allow me to do anything on the internet what so ever.

I just touched the heatsink while the compy is on and it doesnt feel hot at all really so I really dont know if this is some stupid issue with the MOBO and its bad or if this could be a CPU issue and that would need to be RMAed.

The lan ports are not wiereless thats the issue with that.

Ill try the thing your recommending to look. Also, I am going to reset the cpu again and make sure the heatsink is correctly on. I am using the stock cooling unit and if this doesnt work, I will probably be forced to RMA the board and CPU back.

The problem is that the bios is telling me that it is well over 80c. Even with a stock cooler my Q9650 never got above 65c, nor did i ever get high temp errors every boot up. Not to mention that if this cant be OCed then there isnt any point in even having a k version.

3) Driver problems with Win 7.

Problems 2 and 3 seem to be much more common. I did find an old thread that seems to have some good suggestions.

Basically it seems that depending on your specific setup, you need to have a particular driver (not necessarily the latest), as that's a very finicky card.

Again, I have no personal experience with this card...just trying to do a little research for ya...

Hope this helps,

Rich

It does help. This was my birthday gift from my whole family and we are now considering RMAin the mobo back and totally getting another brand such as an EVGA P67 FTW and get a new card. I am looking for a PCIEx1 slot card that will be compatable with my WTR54GS Router so any info on that would be helpful.

My wife really just wants to rma the board back as it isnt working and producing the correct temps in the BIOS. We are holding off until monday to start the process, so if we can all just work together to fix it before then that would make me really happy. Thanks for all the help. The other computer is just sitting in the bios right now as it has been for the past 2 hours sitting at 87c

So here is the latest on the situation.

We just reseated the headsink and cpu again. This time, we took a piece of paper towel, wiped all of the paste away and started over. We proceeed to put one dab onto the CPU its self, it was as big as one piece of uncooked long grain rice. Please note that the last two times we spread it around the whole spu, this time we didnt and just placed the HS&F over the small dab and locked it in place. Upon entering the bios, it started at around 54c and went all the way up to 67c before we exited the bios and went into windows.

At this point checking Realtemp it currently shows my cpu running at 33-37MAX c in idle. I checked the internet and still no go on that end. Im going to go into the bios and let it sit there for a little bit to see if it rises in temp.

My next question is this, the TPU switch is on, so my mobo should be overclocking for me correct? I would like to get my rig to go to around 3.8GHZ with the stock fan and HS on using the intel turbo boost thing which is also turned on but it isnt doing anyting and my cpu is still at 3.40 ghz.

In the bios I did click the asus optimal settings button which upon restart, did start into windows without a high temp warning but yielded no results when it came to my cpu runing at anything other then the regular speed of 3.40ghz.

I did look into some application called the suite 2 by asus and there is an autotuning program in there that i guess will oc my cpu but im afraid to use it. Any help in this reguard would be appriciated as well as any information reguarding my stupid nic card that says it has FULL signal yet im lagging when it comes to anyting that involves the interenet.

Dont know if this will help any but here it goes.

I sat in bios for like 20 minutes and it again
frown.gif
went up to 80c with the asus optimal settings on so I just dont know what to do with all of this. Im probably going to be on the phone with asus all day tomorrow trying to get it ironed out as well as ordering the EVGA cpu cooler to see if it makes any difference.

Secondly I will be playing around with some drivers for my nic card but will probably end up gtting a new one of those to see if that will make any differece. If anyone has any good wireless pciex1 card that I can get thats a good price let me know. I will be looking as well to see. Thanks for all of the next again, this is really starting to make me feel aggervated as this whole ordeal.

Trying to call Asus all day today. I hope that ill get ahold of them and they will help me figure out whats going on. Same story going on today as yesterday. The cpu is refusing to overclock yet still telling em the same stuff in the Bios and windows. I am going to be switching the cards between the wife's computer and mine to see if that solves my nic card issues. Anyways everyone, thank you for the help. if you have any more information or help it would be greatly appriciated.

The issue is that my CPU cant overclock if the BIOS is reading such high temps. My cpu is supposed to be OCed as its a 2600k version. If I cant overclock it and it wont start with it OCed then somthing is obviously wrong.

The tpu thing is is on as well as the turbo boost thing and that isnt working. Im not so much worried about the actual tempature as much as I am about my CPU not being able to overclock at all. Thats my main concern right now, is if one thing isnt working right it seems on my motherboard then the rest of it is not working properly.

I filled out the system specs again. As far as the small voltages are that you have munaim1 on each thing I really dont know what the they are. I do know that my ram is not running at what its supposed to as its set to I think 1333mhz or somthing like that as that is what the mobo set them at. I can go look into the bios and see if that will do anything to help you and list all of the voltages.

The graphics card however did show me some information on it when purchased and ill list it right now.

EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1461-KR GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Chipset Manufacturer NVIDIA
GPU GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi)
Core Clock 850MHz
Shader Clock 1700MHz
Stream Processors 336 Processor Cores

Please understand guys that I am a noob kinda, I have built around 4 computers in my life, this being my fifth computer with no one here to help or make sure I dont screw up. I really dont trust my hands with electronic equipment but I thought I may as well give this a shot. It IS working but it isnt able to overclock that I can see, nor is it able to do anything net related that is probably a stupid driver issue that is unrelated. Anyways, thank you again and I am going to try again to get ahold of asus tomorrow as there phones were down ALL DAY today -_-

Thinking i should just rma the board, get a new one, and microsoft will give me another cd key for the oem version due to a mobo defect and not just an upgrade.

Ok so after getting off of the phone with asus here is what they told me

1. its a grounding issue. They want me to take out my mobo from my HAF X and see if the temp thing still contiues with it outside of the case.

2. Its a PSU issue and they wanted me to test my system with a different psu. I dont have a big enough psu to test with it so I dont really know where to go from here.

One part of me just wants to rma the mobo back, get a different brand and start all over. Another part of me jus wants to keep plugging away at this until it can OC so I really dont now how to go about trying to diagnose these issues.

I used this bios on my p8p67 pro and it caused all kinds of problems with my VGA and my OC was no longer stable at 5 Ghz.

I regressed to the previous NON-BETA and all went back to normal.

Try it and see if it works for you.

Thank, I will be doing that today as well as swapping the nic cards and seeing if that does the trick. If not, after getting off of the phone with asus and coolermaster i will be rmaing the board back and see about getting a new one or getting a totally different brand all together, probably the evga ftw.
