Having problems upgrading to E8650

Hi!

I purchase a new Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3 GHz Processor. I tried to install it, I've done this before, i removed the old, applied thermal paste, put heatsink and cooling fan back on and fired up the system. Everything fired up smoothly, it did everything it should, however I have a blank display and no way of seeing whats happening. Any idea?

System details as follows :

OS Name- Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Version - 6.1.7600 Build 7600
System Manufacturer- Compaq-Presario
System Model - RR501AA-ABU SR2129UK
System Type- x64-based PC
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz, 1867 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date -Phoenix Technologies, LTD 5.10, 30/01/2007
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) -3.00 GB
Graphics Card - Nvidia GeForce 9400GT

I checked out to see if I could find the latest bios for my board and came across a site, BiosAgentPlus.com. It shows the following regarding my bios :

IOS Type: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

BIOS ID: 01/30/2007-LakePort-Leonite-00

BIOS Date: 20070130

BIOS Vendor: Phoenix Technologies, LTD

BIOS Version: 5.10

BIOS Size: 524288

Chipset: Intel 2770 rev 2

Manufacturer: Compaq-Presario

Product: RR501AA-ABU SR2129UK

Base Manufacturer: ASUSTek Computer INC.

Base Product: LEONITE

Chassis Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard

After searching around in there I found a bios update :

GS346AA-ABH SR5220NLIntel 2770 rev 22008-05-065.23

I dont know if its worth paying for this update and flashing the board myself then attempting to install the CPU again, from what I've read the E8650 should be compatible with my board.

Hope i've given enough info and look forward to some reply's.

If you want to keep that mobo it should be worth paying for a bios update, however it might be a good idea to replace the oem board with an aftermarket board just for overclocking purposes.
If you are reluctant to invest in your system you can always take a look at the For Sale thread on OCN. There might be some good deals there.
