HD3200 performance low?

1167 Views 11 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  kairi_zeroblade
So i decided to pick up the Asus M3A78-EM since it has a integrated HD3200 with HDMI out.

It had many good reviews and people raved how it performed. so I paired it with a Phenom x4 9600 agena.

After fresh graphics install from the ati site and with a vista graphics ratings of 3.5, I am unable to play 1080p videos without freezes, lag, and the etc.

is it just not powerful or is there just a flaw here?

I have an Asus M3A78-EM and I've already said a billion times here with the 780G chipset and HD 3000 series or HD 4000 series ATI graphics, I get either a little bit of lag in 1080p videos (hardly noticeable on 4000 series) or even when looking at the images changing during an installation of UT2004, the images appear block by block as if in slow motion on HD3200 and a lot faster but still visible on the HD 4670.
It looks like it just doesn't have what it takes to output that resolution.

Wuh???
But toms hardware made the darn thing play HD video with a Sempron!!
Overclock it to 800mhz

That checked off?
A bunch of cluttered, non-essential background processes can impact performance. Double-check.
yes that is the problem, they made it work with a sempron and i cannot get it to work with a phenom. haha

anyways i think heavy light is correct here, but im gonna go try overclocking it and allocate some more memory and see if that helps.

background processes and all other crap have been cleared with hardware acceleration enabled.
It's all in the codecs. I forget how I configured mine, but you have to dl some codecs and uncheck/check some options in media player classic. GOOOGLE is your best friend here.

I have the M3A78-EM with a X2 4850e for my HTPC, and 1080p runs smoothly.

This man speaks the truth. You can have the fastest system but if your codecs aren't in order/clean/up to date, you aren't going anywhere.

i was using vlc player and then tried GOM player.

may be media player classic may be the key.
Check your codecs if they are set to render on the GPU settings you have..and btw what codec package you use??
