I've been trying to decide between these two headphones. Reviews from both make them sound very similar. I'm just wondering if its worth the extra money or just to pocket that money. Any advice be appreciated.

HD515 - $69.95

HD555 - $89.95

Thanks for you reply.

Is the difference that significant?

I must agree. I haven't listened to the HD515's though.

It depends what you are going to be listening too.

I find that my HD515's give alright bass.

But they cannot compare to my HD595's. I like the bass better in my HD515's but overall my HD595's offer so much more for my classical and the treble is beautiful.

My brother has the HD555's and I like them better then my HD515's.

But again... It all depends on what you are going to be using them for

I'm using the 515s now, don't have anything to compare it to as I only have Sony ex-85 IEMs, Canada sucks sometimes...

I listen to melodeath, heavy metal, death metal. The bass is alright, wouldn't mind more though.

Can you get the 595s? They are above and beyond the other two, and recommend them to you if you can buy them. However, not sure if they need an amp (if not an amp then one of those headphone boosted sound cards like Asus Xonar Essence or HT Omega Halo)

My 555s are insane. A nice middle-set indeed. I considered 595 but it was too much for me (not much of an audiophile, but can appreciate good sound), and 515 seemed lacking slightly from certain reviews.

I recommend the HD212 Pro's if you are looking for more bass...

Actually most closed headphones are nice on the ears for bass

HD595's need an amp.

HD555's do not

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm going to be using them primarily for gaming if that makes a difference, but I could use them for music as well. The 595s are just too expensive for me I don't want to spend that much lol. I'm really just looking for best bang per buck for what I'm intending my use for them.
HD555's are the best bang for the buck, going for around $90-100 depending on where you look. If you want to go cheap, get the HD212 pro's for around $30-40.

HD555's are so comfortable and do not hurt your ears when wearing them for a long time like the HD212pros do

555 is like the Porsche of audio.. its comfortable, luxurious, and sporty. Sure there are better, but most are a whole heck of a lot worse

look at it this way.......I received my hd555's today in the mail.....coincidence? I think not.......

I chose to buy cheap headsets for yearssssss, and now after only a few hours of somewhat okay settings on my sound card I already regret doing that.

is that enough information?

get the 555's and never look back.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I've decided to spend the extra $20 and buy the HD555s. They sound like they are really worth the money and comfortability is important.
When it comes to bass it isn't neccesarily how much its how clean it is and how well it is delivered
