I have a computer and two monitors, one of which has hdmi input. My video card has two dvi outputs but no hdmi output. I also have a plasma tv about 10-15 feet away, and an hdmi cable that can connect the tv to my computer. I want to split the output of my computer to both the monitor with hdmi input and the tv, while also maintaining my second monitor. Do I need an active or passive splitter? I'm deciding between:

You will need an HDMI amplifier since the signal will get weaker since it goes through 2 cables. I suggest get the one from amazon

Okay the splitter has arrived. My video card has two DVI ports. Attached to one of them is a dvi > hdmi adapter, which is then attached to the hdmi input plug of the splitter/amplifier. Two hdmi cables are attached to the output, one of them leading to one of my monitors, the other to my television. The splitter/amplifier works. However, the other dvi port on my video card, which my second monitor is attached to, does not work. Any idea why?
