1558 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ryan]
i'm going i7 and i already have the s1283 and mounting bracket for socket 1366. how good does this cooler work for an i7 chip? is it worth upgrading to something better? also how well will this fit in an antec 900?

It might fit in an antec 900 if it has no fan on the side panel, but I don't believe that the original s1293 has an i7 bracket. However, they did make another model for the i7 called the dark knight, and it cools i7 very well and it was based off of the s1283.
It fits in my brother's Antec 900 just fine.

You can try the ACK-I7361 crossbow for i7. It fits in Antec 900.

i was under the impression the dark night is the same as the original, its just black, has a different fan, and comes with the bolt through kit.

i already have the bolt through kit on my mobo now and it says its lga 775 and 1366 compatible

It is the same as the original, I didn't know the bolt-thru kit you can buy was 1366 compatible.
In that case, your s1283 should cool an i7 just fine
