they were, i turned them off and it still sounds lame.

ok i am turning in my oc.net card and leaving it all.

The headphones have a little switch to turn the micropone off. it works WAY better with that microphone switch ON. so any suggestions on new headsets, i dont like these anyway.

Mics will sound lame no matter what IMO.
especailly if they are too close to your mouth.
I dunno what to say.
You could try turning off the sound to the headset while using the mic.

Right click on the sound icon in the system tray>>Open Volume Control>>Properties>>Advanced Controls(Make sure its checked)>>under microphone click advanced>>Under other controls make sure mic boost is not checked

Mic boost causes scratchy noise problems,turn it off if its on. If not,then its the headphones.

Oh,and go with the Sennheisers,they usually get really good reviews.
