I got this card at a computer store liquidation today..it's a 6600gt but the heatsink and fan kinda rock back and forth easily. Is this normal and should I remove it and clean it then apply as5??

Clean it then reseat it.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Thumb"> If its loose you might get insane temps.

Well I read through a FAQ on that type of project...but I may have some questions..not gonna mess with it tonight but maybe tomorrow thanks.<br>
~~Edit~~ After thought>>>>I got it to run two of them on this board but never set up an sli system so maybe uhhmm lot's of questions then...<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/poke.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Poke">

After looking it seemed easy to get apart so here's some before in between and afters...was very careful to apply a minimal amount and not get any as5 on any parts but the core..<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Thumb"><br><br>
~~edit~~ i guess i better remember to plug the fan back in....lol

Anyhoo... does that HS make contact with the surface of the VRAM chips? If so you might want to consider putting some AS5 on them as well.<br><br>

no it has some rubberized standoffs and only connects with the core....HHHmmm<br>
maybe a stray heatspreader off some ram would be a good shimm<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/thinking.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Thinking"> And thanks it's a biostar same as my other one...my first one works great and i got it @ 550/1000 I believe the stock is 510/800...
