Heater Core Compatibility

I had purchased a heater core from Autozone planning to use it for water cooling. When the time came to order the rest of the parts, my dad decided to buy me a regular radiator; he thought that there might be some issues with mixing some metals. I was pretty sure that there wouldn't be any problems, but hey, he was offering to buy me a radiator! The current items in my loop are my D-Tek Fuzion V2, D5 Vario, and Swiftech MCR320-QP. I have atteached some pictures of my heater core. My question is this:Will there be a problem if I were to add this to my loop?

Your fine with that one, the aluminum is just the fins on that, it doesn't come into contact with the coolant..Any of them with copper or brass end tanks are going to be fine since the coolant tubes in it will be copper..
Ah, just the person that I wanted to hear from! Ok, cool! I want to add this to my loop so I get get a little decrease in temperatures.

I bet it will be a good one..A shroud will help a lot, just tailor these for a single core rather then a bonnie...Let us know how it works out in your loop..

..How to make a dual heater core fan shroud...

..Easy to make Shroud for the Bonnie

..How To: Build A Performance Shroud

How do you know that this will be a good one? it stinks that I can't fit 2x120mm fans on there-I'm off by about half an inch!

Its a nice big thick HC, it has to be good with some decent cfm fans on it..
...The Bonnie core is about like a 320 Swifty with 80+ cfm fans on it...Make a shroud for it that will fit the 2-120mm fans, you could probably get by with just slanting one side of it out to fit it...

Performance of a MCR320? I found that funny because I have one of them now! I have a perfect place to put it in my Rocketfish, but the stupid floppy drive bay makes it so it doesn't fit. Sounds like I something has to go!! Thanks for the help so far!
The Bonnies do better with a shroud(3/4-1.5") and high CFM fans in pull. If you stack 2 Bonnies, push and pull work much better.
How much of an improvement do you think that I will get if I put this in my loop? My Q6600 at 3.4 w/ 1.5v is under load at like 63/63*c now. Five degree temp drop? More or less?

Thats a good question, the only answer I could honestly give is to just try it and see. If your Swifty is already removing most of the heat it probably wont help much.

Feel the end tanks on your rad, does it feel a little warmer then the room ambient when you Prime load it up for a while? If it does a second rad should help..

Muliple rads help a lot if your wanting to run quieter fans, the extra surface area is what does it....You could add 10 rads and if the first was removing most of the heat the others wouldn't help much..

Hey you already have it, cut it in your loop and try it out, it wont hurt your temp's thats for sure..
..You could cut it in a easy place to get to and temporarily mount it and see if it helps enough that you want to mod a spot for it or not..
