Hello,

a little bit of background about me. this my first Rig since the days of the AMD Athlon 64 AM2 socket era in the early 2000's, which I binned cause ive been using laptop. I moved to a laptop that runs 3rd Gen i7, Laptop is Asus K45VS.

first interactive PC was in the early 90's running in DOS, and played Golden Axe, Apogee games, games in Q-Basic like gorilla bass. I saw some big boys playing ski and doing stuff in Windows 3.11 but it didnt interest me cause it wasnt colorful then. My first Windows OS was back in 1995 when Dad bought me a Windows 95 Multi-Media Computer, then worth over 1,000 USD that came with an HP Deskjet 540 which I used for school work.

Now, in 2016, I built myself a gaming rig that runs on the new Intel Skylake architecture. :rolleyes:I figured to go with intel z170's instead since it was the best processor for an i7. I chosed i7 6700k because I wanted my processor to at least have an 8-thread for future reliability. I was thinking to go with an AMD FX 8350 with physical 8-core, 8-threads, but based on the reviews I felt its not as good as it should be, so I just went for intel since I can still afford it anyway.

I chosed the unlocked version (6700K) because I was going with a Z170 anyway so I think its a wise decision especially if im making a future proof PC. everything else in my PC is pretty much, just buy whatever is best for my setup, and more bang for my buck.

Although I did encountered issue in running my DDR4 to rated speed, I couldnt figure out how to make it run at 2666mhz. I did some tinkering around and read forums and such, found out I needed to run it in XMP profile. I tried that but it failed. So I kind of set the XMP profile and configured it manually to run it stable at 2666mhz. the key was VCCIO, I had to set that to Auto. current voltage is 1.17V something. stock was .950V, I will try to lower it down soon and try to find a sweet spot where it will run stable.

I will be looking in this community for help if I encounter one TIA!
