I'm building an i7 920 mATX rig with a HD5870 and 3 hdds, need help with choosing a psu (note: i will not ever go sli or crossfire)

right now its between:
corsair 650hx for $90 after mir
or
antec truepower new 750watt for $70 after mir

should 650 watts be plenty for my system? which is the better quality psu??

650W is more than enough for your system, yes. I'd feel comfortable putting your rig on a 550W power supply of decent quality.

The TruePower New 750W is the better quality power supply, though. It's more efficient, and has better voltage regulation, etc.

Get that.

They are roughly the same quality. Both are built by Seasonic, but the Antec is a newer design. The 650HX is basically a slightly more efficient version of the 620HX. They should all perform roughly the same though. Corsair's customer service is probably a little better, but it's hard to go wrong either way. You won't need 750W but I would personally just go with the cheapest one.

tough decision i had my heart set on the corsair but i understand its a different platform then the hx750 it does however come with a 7 year warranty. the tp-750 got good reviews but i think two many cables are hardwired defeating the purpose of modular (two cpu connectors 8 and 4, floppy connector, extra satas i prob wont use, idk). i wish someone would have put out a review of the hx650 to see how much more efficient it is over the hx620. this is driving me nuts.

Here you go.

Corsair HX620 efficiency:

Antec TruePower New 750 efficiency:

Between the HX650 and TP-750 just flip a coin or get the cheaper one. You will be more than happy with either.

thanks for the replies guys, so i went with the corsair for the warranty and better modular-ability to keep my antec mini p180 neat as possible.
