For all I know, 1x1gb runs in dual channel...
It depends... Do you plan on getting another matching stick of the RAM, or not? If not, go with the 2x512, because 512 sticks usually have much better timings at stock.

2X512. youll get a little more performance, lower latency and tighter timings

Survey says..........: "wrong"! that does not apply to DDR2.

4-4-4-12 x1GB Kit.

4-4-4-12 x2GB Kit.

Personally I think it'd be better to get the 2GB Kit, that way you can disable the "page file" a.k.a. Virtual Memory and make the computer run a little faster and for what I can see, some games take advantage of a system running on a 2GB kit.

Not to burst your bubble, but you may be somewhat limited with those 4.0-4-4-12 timings for maxing out your overclock?

However low latency DDR ll dimms are very expensive.

Check out my Memory ( PDP XBL PC2-5600"Patriot") twin matched 2x512 and they kick butt at 3.0-2-2-3 global bandwidth score 52,000 @ 1kb but they cost?

If you get those PQI's and you add more Memory sticks later down the line you will not be able to increase your speed beyond your lowest dimms? you knew that prob? anyway good luck with the PQI the Price is very reasonable.
