Hey guys! I just thought I would make a thread for help. I just got a 8800 gts and my current cpu is bottlenecking it bad. My cpu and mobo is horrible. My mobo wont run core 2 duos. SO.. I'm on the market looking for either amd or intel. but.. i have a $200 budget. it has to be a cpu and mobo and the mobo must allow overclocing and at least ddr2 533 cuz thats all i have and i cant afford ram now. Sorry if this is in the wrong area
but help would be awesome!

so.

amd or intel
drr2 533 at least
easy to OC
less then $200 for mobo and cpu together!

i have been looking around for 3 days and i just cant find anything that looks good.pm or post reply XD

Unfortunately for that kind of budget you won't get a very good CPU, at best your looking at a very low end Allendale or a Presler type CPU.
you could get a 2160 and a s3 that would be a good combo for about 200 bucks

or a pd and one of cds asus Asus P5LD2-VM

Nice! I will look at that. Now will that have overclocking options in the bios or will I have to use 3party programs?

EDIT: Bah posted too soon!
I've seen the mobo has great overclocking options! Now is this cpu a god ocer? maybe for a bit more coul a bank on a tad more expensive am2 proccessor? Sorry i may sound a tad anal but id just love to get my rig finished

Get a brisby and a good AMD mobo (I'm an intel enthusiast atm, so I don't know too much about AMD) and overclock that puppy.
in the BIOS. you realize that if you have an OEM version of Windows you'll have to buy a new license for your new motherboard.
get a cheap am2 board, and a brisbane
AM2 mobo+Brisbane

Celeron/Allendale+Gigabyte P965-S3

EDIT:Think Intels are easier to overclock.
this im going to get this combo!

GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor
$232 before tax but looks good to me!

very good choice-- from all that Ive heard that is a great mobo for the money and Im sure you could get a pretty decent overclock with that CPU-- havent heard too much about how Allendales overclock-- but hey its a Core2Duo.

with your budget i would have either gone with something like that or get a brisbane and put most of your money into a really nice AM2 board.

what the heck is up with this --- go down the page a little and take note of the price of the 4000+ Brisbane, now click on its link and then look at the price-

Sorry for the double post but id go asus instead of gigabyte for the motherboard because asus boards overclock significantly better in comparison to gigabyte ones
Asus does overclock better but most asus boards seem to have a bad droop.
