HELP deleting folder didnt give me space

hi,

my external hard drive was getting abit full and i needed to put some docs on it. i had a folder which is 11gigs worth that i copied onto my desktop to free up some space, i then deleted the folder off of the external, and its gone but didnt give me any storage space back?? still the same as before i deleted it?

can anybody help

Try "Cleanup" the program.

Dumb question, did you do a permanent delete, or just delete-to-recycle-bin?

just clicked delete and it moved to recycle bin..... how do i permanently delete it?

Double-click the recycle-bin and make sure that everything in there can be permanently deleted. If so, just right-click the recycle bin and hit "Empty Recycle Bin'.

That option is also available from the "File" drop-down menu.

Yeah, the recycle bin is really just another folder. If you dont empty it, the documents arent gone, they're just moved. To get the space you simply need to empty the bin.
