On my mates PC he is getting an error everytime he boots up, it says "Disc Read Error Occured", this error then means he can go no further, so he cant even get into windows.

Have you guys got any suggestions on how to fix it, and what the error is or means.

Make sure the drive is being detected in the bios correctly. Also check both power and data cables to see if they are tight. If its an ide drive switch channels to see if its the drive or possibly something else.
