Help Me, Im Torn

ok, with Christmas coming soon, i'm thinking of things I want to get for my rig. Now, I have already made the Decision for a new case (Silverstone Raven RV01). Now, i'm thinking of going Quad Core. I have already ordered a Megahalem, and my eyes are set on a Q9500 at Micro Center. Now, many people have told me that my E8400 is a beast, and I should stick with it for now because not many games are optimized for a Quad Core CPU yet. I use my rig for Games, and Surfing the Net. So, if you were in my position, what would you guys do. Maybe I can use the $220 bucks on something else?

With this system, I would get an SSD.

Edit: I would have made some recommendations, but I'd like to see what you think. But with everything else in this rig, I do think that a good 64 GB SSD would be perfect.

I would not go with a q9500, If I was you I would wait until you can afford an I5/I7 setup. Your E8400 should still be more than enough for gaming and surfing the net.
Looks like a very decent system already, I'd stay with your E8400 and save up the money. It could turn out to be very useful in the future, like Dominant says one day you might decide to upgrade to i7/i5 and you'd need a CPU and board...
Just out of curiosity, are you opposed to AMD? I know you probably want to keep your motherboard, but I think it's a legitimate question when you're dealing with that small of a budget.

Also, after reading your title, I've had that Natalie Imbruglia song stuck in my head.

"I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel"....
...
Whatever. You all know the damn song too.
Yeah I suppose your right. And Twocables, you mean to use a solid state drive for boot?

Correct. Use an SDD for the OS and games (or programs that NEED SPEED) and use the hard drive for all the other programs and files.

O cool thank you. I will do that with the Extra money after I buy my Case.

Definitely. Although it's also a good point to save the money just in case since this is already a pretty solid rig.

But I recommend a 64 GB SSD because anything bigger will be out of the ~$220 budget. But a good 64 GB SSD can be worth the money. Although, shop wisely: there are many SSDs that aren't that much faster the Raptor.

The new Kingston 40GB SSD ($80) sounds pretty good for this

That's what I want it for, anyways. Games and the OS, nothing more nothing less.

The E8400 is a BEAST of a CPU and I've seen those chips get amazing speeds. As you said in the OP, not too many games are optimized for quads yet (GTA4 is the only one that comes to mind). So I'd just stick with a dual core.

So if I were you, I'd probably get an SSD and then just be awestruck by that amazing speed increase.
