I'm running Linux Mint 14.1 (MATE) with a Radeon HD 4830. (see "Minteron" rig for specs)
I've downloaded the Catalyst 13.1 drivers but I can't seem to find any instruction on how to install.
Can anyone help?

If I remember correctly the drivers you download from ATIs website is a script and you need to build/compile the driver specific to your distro. Assuming its the only .run file in the directory, typing:

sudo sh ./*.run --help
Should give you some more info
You'll probably need to install your kernel headers to compile the driver and kill your x session before installing them

Much easier to use you distros package manager to install them as they've already done all the hard work. I think ATI drivers are called 'fglrx' so search for that.
