Start > Run(or the search bar in Vista/Win 7) > type "dxdiag" without quotes and hit enter.

Your Processor and Memory will be under the System tab, your graphics will be under the Display tab.

HEre's a few things off the top of my head that may be affecting you.

1: If it's a prebuilt, it lacks a sufficient video card. GTA IV may be too stupid to give you the proper error for this.

2. Windows XP must have SP3 installed, Vista must have SP1. Forced updates suck, I know, but that's how it is.

3. DirectX may be out of date, or as mentioned in one, not supported at all.

4. You may lack sufficient ram to load the game

5. You may also lack sufficient CPU, it may be trying to start and just so woefully underspec that it takes forever. You mistake this for it freezing and post here.

6. You may also have a corrupted install. Could be a scratched disc, dirty DVD drive, or just a random corruption. That's happened to me once or twice.

7. Is is a Steam or DVD copy, right? Torrented copies tend to do things like this, usually a bad crack. Recommend you legally purchase the game if this is the case. If not, do kindly disregard this entirely

We'll know more when you get your system specs up. MAy be able to rule things in or out based on that.

i did buy the game o.0 and im about to try and clear my ram after i figure out how to. (^-^)

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.93GHz
Memory: 504MB RAM
Page File: 555MB used, 673MB available
Windows Dir: C:\\WINDOWS
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.5512 32bit Unicode
clear your ram?

that game is pretty demanding as far as specs go, if you could just run dxdiag like painkiller said and copy what is says in the system and graphics tab, that would help us help you.
there is no graphics tab
Card name: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Controller
DAC type: Internal
Display Memory: 128.0 MB
Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Monitor: hp f1503 Flat Panel Monitor
forget about it...
your not going to ever play that game on that computer.
Even if you upgrade your graphics card, you would probably need a new psu, and your cpu still sucks

You can't play this game with your system. I don't mean to be harsh, but forget the fact the game won't load. There is absolutely no way this game will run with your setup.

GTA IV can tax even midrange dual-core systems with decently new GPUs. Pardon my manners, but as stated there is no way you can get it running on that machine.

Welcome to Overclock.net.
i already installed it but when i click Rockstar Social Club nothing happens philhalo66.
it doesnt matter.... You can not play it with that computer

It will make no difference, it will not run on your PC

To give you a useful analogy, its like putting a PS3 game into a PS2, it will not work. Your case is the same as with the consoles, your hardware will not be able to run the software (the game). If you want to get it running you will need a new computer (nothing really worth upgrading). Otherwise you could just get it on a console if you don't have the money for a new PC.

I'm sorry that we are being a bit harsh but you seem to need some convincing that it won't work on your system.

like said, i doubt that computer will run ANY modern games, let alone GTA4. it wont happen. you need a new computer or an xbox or ps3
There is a "Minimum System Requirements" portion on all game boxes when you buy them.

Usually it's a good idea to check on this, and if you don't even know the bare minimum of your specs and you're out buying games randomly then that's a problem itself.

You have onboard graphics and hardly any game will run on that and be playable, and GTAIV will definitely NOT ever run on your system.

Even buying a new video card would merit you needing a new PSU, and then even your CPU will still be far too weak.

I have a 4890 and an overclocked i5 and it's still running in low FPS at times depending on where I am in the game.

You'd be better off just getting an Xbox 360 and playing the game on there since that'll at least be playable for you.

I advise you to gain more knowledge regarding your computer specs and then look for a game that meets those specs.

There's no reason to even try to figure out why it's not loading or even waste hard drive space by having it installed. I would uninstall it and bring it back to the store if possible and get your money back.

Cheers.
