According to this there's no pin for the mic:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/691/1/

There is a mic in and out on the rear I/O though...
yep.
where there?

in that article, it was stated that they were having a hard time with the drivers. but i haven't found anything that states no front mic pin. or maybe i'm just blind?

hmm i've built a buddy with the ecs gf8200 w/c was similiar and it had the exact f-audio pins. but the problem with my case is that the pins were scattered and i have to plug them one by one, unlike his case w/c is not, and he just had to plug it right away.

Under specs and Internal I/O connectors and headers. I don't see anything that indicates there is an internal connector for a mic. Most pc's only come with one Mic capability if i remember right. Yours seems to be located in the rear I/O panel.

even the most expensive ecs mobo doesn't indicate that there is a mic header
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/846/1/

and same goes with asus too
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/795/1/

and this is the mobo that i built for my friend
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/837/1/

all of them doesn't indicate, but i'm sure there is.

it's even in bundled software.

I don't know man. Usually though it would be indicated in the manual or user product specs and i just don't see it. I did try to help though =)

this is what the manual says:
1- port 1L
2- aud_gnd
3- port-1R
4- presence #
5- port 2R
6- sense1-return
7- sense-send
8- key
9- port 2L
10- sense2-return

there were no printings of those front panel features at all.

You did the conection that you discribe and the audio is working fine on the front panel????
You only need the mic conetion, right?

And just confirm, the mother board is the ECS A780GM-A, correct?

I´m having the same problem......take a look at this post:
