Hey everyone,

I am having abit of an issue with further overclocking my i7 920 D0.
I am trying to reach 4.2Ghz (21x200), but for some reason I cant get it stable.. it keeps crashing when running IntelBurnTest @ Very High. (8 Threats)

It doesnt matter how high I set the Vcore, And increasing the PLL doesnt matter either..

Quote:
The settings I am using are:

Multi: 21x
SpeedStep: Disabled
BCLK: 200
PCIE: 101
DRAM: 1203Mhz
UCLK: 2406
QPI: 7218MT/s

DRAM Timing are: 7-7-7-20

Vcore: 1.35
PLL: 1.90
QPI/DRAM: 1.35
IOH: 1.16
ICH:1.20
DRAM: 1.66

CPU Settings:Only HT is enabled, the rest is disabled.
Temps are around 68C - 73C
Any suggestions would be welcome

Thanks in advance

Leave CPU PLL at 1.8v and ICH at 1.1v (is the southbridge and shouldn't need any more voltage).

4.2GHz is not easily obtainable by all i7s. I've got an i7 950 that won't do 4.2GHz without 1.46v. Try upping vcore some more and see if it lasts longer in IBT.

First of all thanks alot for the reply, I upped the Vcore tot 1.375 ad I was able to get the standard 5 rounds of IBT
Going to do some more IBT runs later.

But I was wondering what would be a normal amount of GFlops for an 920 @ 4.2Ghz?
RAM is currently running @ 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24

Thanks in Advance

Hey all,

I am still busy OCing my i7 920 to 4.2Ghz but when I run LinX, It is only getting 45-47 GFlops out of it and I was wondering if this is below avg.? RAM is running at @1600Mhz 8-9-8-28

Thanks in Advance

Thanks for the given info,I applied some settings which I didnt had setup. But I doubt if I can get 4.2Ghz working with less then 1.4Vcore.

But isnt 46GFlops abit low for a 4.2Ghz i7 920? (using IBT for testing 8 threads)

Reported GFLOPS in LinX/IBT is not really a reliable performance benchmark.

Run something else to compare performance.
