Hi folks

your assistance is needed please.

I am new to the overclocking scene and am not sure where to go. I've manged to overclock my cpu to 2.8Ghz by increasing the fsb from 266 to 312. If i go above 312 my pc freezes and restarts.

My processor is the 2.4Ghz Q6600 Kentsfield G0
My Mobo is the Asrock 4Core 1333 Glan R2.0
My Heatsink is the Corsair H50

I would like to get above the 3Ghz mark. From what I've read on the internet this should be possible.

Cheers guys

He can't increase the multiplier.

q6600's multipliers are locked.

Only intel's "extreme edition" parts have unlocked multipliers.

didn't look at your mobo.

afaik, asrocks don't overclock well. at all.

Idk, in my opinion you should be fine at 2.8 and if you want to go faster, get a better board

I'm not saying you cant overclock with that board. You might even hit 3.0Ghz. My brother did with his Q6600 and the same board.

You will proberly need to lower your memory divider as you raise the clock the memory frequency rises proportionaly and your memory is proberly at its limit
