hello

I just installed my new cpu (e8400) and i had to update the bios so that it would work.

The probelm i have is that i cant control my v core for my cpu (I can set the v vore from 1.2 - 1.5 in the bios ) but after i restart my cpu. and i check the v core in the bios it changes it self to the auto button.

my motherboard is a asus p5B with the latest 2101 bios update

any idea?

disable C1E, speedstep, and some thermal option in the advanced chipset options (or something similar)

then when you exit the bios make sure to save your changes you made to the bios.

also, it's highly recommended to not go above 1.36250v for 45nm dual-core cpus.

Hey.

I have allready done that. I have saved the setting but it kept going back to auto (the probelm with auto mode is that is puts like 1.5 volts in the card) (yes its to high)

I have taken a photo (for some reason the auto mode has a yellow colour)

Yeah that was the exact same problem I had with my E8600. The BIOS is somehow not compatible. Either that or it got some sort of minor corruption during the flash. I'd try stepping back to 2001 and do 2 things first.
1. reset everything to default settings, restart.
2. Reset CMOS.
Do both in that order, I don't know why but it seems to work better.
Exact same thing with the yellow auto vcore though.
If that doesn't work then try calling Asus because this must be an issue they have seen before.

It's a known issue with that board. However, I didn't have it on my P5B Deluxe...
Have you checked google for any modded bios out there. I had a problem with running my memmory at certain speeds on my P5Q. I downloaded a modded bios and it fixed this. It also allowed me to lower my vcore some.

Mine was a P5B deluxe Wifi and I had that issue. It's only with the E0 stepping I think. My E8400 C0 stepping worked fine in that board.
