Help on upgrading to 5770s in Crossfire.

Well later in early 2011 ill be saving for an upgrade after Christmas goes by and everything.

What I want is to upgrade for crossfire 5770s. I'm pretty sure im gonna need a new motherboard that is made sure its compatible with things I already have and future upgrades i might do later in 2011.

I have 1 5770 on its way right now so just suggest what changes i would need to do to my rig so i can add another 5770 later. I have about $100 right now left over from when I bought my first 5770 last week.
So sometime after christmas im looking at maybe $200-300 budget. But more towards $200.

I do believe you're gonna need a better PSU. You might be ok, but just to be safe I'd say you should upgrade

I doubt it. 5770's are very power efficient.

But you should upgrade PSU regardless.

Yeah i was thinking that i bought the 5770s for less heat, quiet, and power consumption. But yeahh I think I'll upgrade my PSU.

His rig wouldn't pull anywhere close to 500W under full load.

Each HD5770 takes <100W and <180W when CrossFired together.

OP: You will need a new motherboard, since P35 can only do x16/x4 CrossFire, this will bottleneck pretty bad. Something like a Gigabyte UD3P-EP45 would be my choice of a replacement board, it's an amazing overclocker, and comes at a great pricepoint.

If you wanted a power supply upgrade, I recommend either the Corsair TX650 or the Antec TruePower New 650W. Both are more than enough, and would allow for some upgrade headroom for a few years to come.

Opsie I might have been... no I don't know what I was thinking

Now if you got the 5670 you wouldn't have to upgrade for sure
