Hey guys thanks for stopping by to help out.
The rig im working on is the one in my sig.

I currently have the i5-2500k CPU @ 4.8Ghz w/ 1.415Vcore LLC Level 1.
My Radeon 6970 is @ 920 Core clock and 1570 Memory clock @ stock voltage.
Now Im turning my attention to the RAM.

I already set the profile to XMP 1.2 and manually set the standard timings and voltage.
(1.529v @ 9-9-9-24 1T)

My question is how to go about overclocking my RAM for best performance on this system.
Someimes ive heard Mhz speed is better and others say tighter timings.
What do you guys think I should focus on?

Higher frequency does help but it's so minuscule that you won't be able to tell the difference unless you're benching, so on that note I would probably leave it at stock.

If you're still looking to overclock them, try this:

Set the Frequency to 1866, leave the timings and increase the dram voltage (keep it below 1.65v) until you get it to boot and test with super pi 32m. If that doesn't work, try this:

Set frequency to 1866 and try these timings:

9-10-9-24
9-10-9-27
9-11-9-24
9-11-9-27
10-10-10-24
10-10-10-27
10-11-10-24
10-11-10-27
etc.

each test will require to increase or decrease the DRAM voltage, it'll be a lengthy test but good luck

EDIT:

One more thing, more than likely have to increase the I/O voltage to give the IMC a little more 'juice' - VCCIO (QPI/VTT) (1.2v max safe for 24/7)

If you have the same chips as I do, they won't clock for anything. I've pumped 1.7V through them and they still won't even do as much as 1866-CL10.

That being said, they do extremely well at low volts (I can do XMP @ 1.3V). I'm currently running mine at 1675 (9-9-9-24-1T) @ 1.4V.

So are you guys saying to go for tighter timings then?
I didnt notice an option to change the speed in my Asrock Bios anyways lol
